Raise the Roof Appeal
St Mary Magdalene Church Waltham is a Grade 1 listed building. The tower contains 6 historic bells.
In the most recent inspection of the church, one of the more urgent points that the inspector noted was that the tower roof needs over hauling, together with the replacement of the gutter boarding. If the repairs aren't completed in the next year, it could lead to bigger problems, more expense and us having to close the church.
These repairs are overdue, so we need to urgently raise funds to meet the estimated £37,000 costs.
The church has some money set aside for building repairs, but the cost of this scheme is far in excess of our routine maintenance costs.
The church can set aside £15,000 although this means we will have less to meet day to day costs of running the building and our ministry.
We have been applying for grants and are delighted to have secured £7,000 so far ..
so we are at present about £15,000 short.

The church sits proudly in the centre of the village. The building needs protecting so that activities in church can continue into the future - bell ringing, Little Gems, community cafe, youth club, film nights, Beaver Scouts, Zumba, crafts clubs, school use, our regular and seasonal services.
We want to continue with missional activities, the church itself relies on the building and the bell tower is a landmark. Resolving the roof issue enables us to continue to provide these things and to look to encourage further use of the building.
