Welcome everyone to Waltham church's page!
A 13th Century Church for 21st Century people.
Welcome to our church. We have a range of different styles of ‘doing church’ which are suitable for all ages - from traditional church services to fresh expressions of church such as Family 40 and Café Church. We regularly run courses - in person or via Zoom including the Alpha Course; The Bible Course, Christianity/Discipleship/ Explored, Lyfe etc. If you would like to know more about exploring faith then please contact Mike or Chris Alexander (contact details below)
The church building is open every day from 9.30am until 3pm - or sometimes later - for prayer or if you just want to sit in the cool, peaceful. surroundings.
WHAT'S ON, WHEN Generally, our services follow the following pattern, but these may be subject to change - we'd recommend that you check the details under the This Month's Services tab above.
Every Wednesday (9am-9.20am), we hold a short, Celtic-style service of Healing & Wholeness, which includes Holy Communion on the first Wednesday of each month. (Please contact Chris Alexander - details below - if you would like us to pray for anyone or for a particular situation).
On the 1st Sunday of each month at 3pm, we hold Café Church where you can chat about the theme of the day over a cuppa and delicious cake - songs and crafts as well. All welcome.
On the 3rd Sunday, from 10-10.40am, we have our short family-focussed service, called Family 40 to which families with young children are very welcome - through story, video and fun activities, we explore different themes. Tea, coffee, juice, milk, plus fresh fruit and biscuits for everyone!
On the 4th Sunday, 10.30-11.30 am, a service of Holy Communion is held, followed by refreshments.
PLUS...COMMUNITY CAFÉ AT WALTHAM CHURCH - Every Wednesday 10am - 11.30am - we serve filter coffee, tea and delicious cake and traybakes to our lovely community, although we welcome visitors as well. Come along and pop in for a chat and meet some new people or some old faces. Bring a newspaper(though we have a few)/your knitting or just yourself. You can borrow a book/dvd/ or jigsaw as well.
LITTLE GEMS- Our Parent/Carer and Baby/Toddler group - Little Gems, meets in church every Wednesday from 10am-11.30am - it is held in a different area of the church from the Community Café but the same delicious refreshments are served, whilst your baby/toddler can play and socialise with other children/babies.
WALTHAM YOUTH CLUB for young people in school Year 6 up to age 18 - meets fortnightly on Wednesdays during term time from 6-7.30pm in church. Games, activities, pool, badminton, table-tennis, tuck-shop. Run by Suzi (locally authorised minister) and her team. For more info, email [email protected]
It is lovely walking round Waltham (a habit started in lockdown) and seeing familiar faces and lots of new faces of folks who have moved into the village recently.
This is who we are and what we look like when you bump into us in the street! Do please stop and say hello!
Revd Canon John Barr
John no longer lives in the village, having moved to Melton in October 2023. He is still very much around though and can be contacted on 07802 653 818 or at [email protected]

One off donation- To make a donation please click here: https://givealittle.co/campaigns/1674e11a-bc05-484b-b108-9babfcbfee39 Regular donations- If you would like to give regularly (thank you!), we recommend you use the Parish Giving Scheme (PGS). Set up your regular donation by visiting the link below, by contacting PGS on 0333 002 1260 or emailing [email protected]. With your permission, if you are a UK taxpayer, we are able to reclaim the Gift Aid which adds 25% to whatever you donate. It is also easy to protect your donation from inflation; if you choose this option PGS will notify you each year in advance to ask if you are happy to increase your gift by the cost of living. https://www.parishgiving.org.uk/donors/find-your-parish/waltham-on-the-wolds-st-mary-melton-mowbray/ |
