Welcome everyone to Waltham church's page!

It has been lovely walking round Waltham over the Christmas period and seeing familiar faces and lots of new faces of folks who have moved into the village recently.
With the church being closed for public worship and most of what we are doing now being online, we thought we ought to let you know who we are and what we look like when you bump into us in the street! Do please stop and say hello!

Revd Canon John Barr
John lives at the Vicarage on Melton Road with his wife Mary, and you will often see him out walking with his dog, Benji.
John can be contacted on 01664 464265

Mike & Chris Alexander
Mike is a Reader & Pioneer Minister, and Chris is a Pioneer Minister.
They have lived in Waltham for 24 years.
They can be contacted on 01664 464802

Waltham Church hosts regular worship and Holy Communion services, an All-Age Messy Church, a Café Church, a Parent/carer baby and toddler group, art group, home groups, Cinema Nights and other one-off events – all of which sadly are on hold in order to keep our congregations safe, especially the elderly and vulnerable.

So, we have gone online with the other Ironstone churches for Zoom worship and telephone services, pre-recorded services, and Youtube videos. We even managed 3 outdoor socially distanced services when the weather was a bit warmer than it is now. You would be most welcome to join in with what we are doing as a church. We are always open to suggestions about what we could do to help build faith and community.
For services during lockdown, see the Home Page

The church building is open for private prayer on Wednesdays and Sundays from around 930am until around 1pm

There is a box in church to support the work of Storehouse - the Melton Foodbank – please give what tins/packet food you can.
We are part of a group of 7 churches called the Ironstone Villages Family of Churches and you can find out what is happening across all the churches on our website  https://www.ironstonechurches.org.
If you would like to receive the monthly email copy of our Newsletter (the Yellow Pages) then please just ask.

Services/Fresh Expressions of Church at Waltham
Generally there is a pattern to Waltham church’s services, although this may change over the summer months and around Christmas, Easter and Remembrance so it is worth checking the Village News on  the Home page.
All of the services are listed on the Month's service page, listed in the Menu.

First Sunday of the Month – 10.30am  - no service at Waltham church however a Joint Benefice Communion service held at Scalford Church- lifts can be arranged.

Second Sunday of the Month – 10.20am - Messy Church - something for everyone - young and young-at-heart and in between...a creative, fun and friendly way of celebrating and praising God – Crafts, activities, fun and music around a biblical theme followed by delicious filter coffee & cake!

Third Sunday of the Month – 9.30am - Café Church - We start with breakfast (the bacon butties are very popular!) then at 10am we have a short time of modern worship, followed by readings and discussion on the theme of the day. Suitable for all ages.

Fourth Sunday of the Month – 10.30am -Joint Benefice Communion service in church – all welcome.

Fifth Sunday of the Month (where applicable)  Usually a united Anglican/ Methodist Communion Service which travels round the churches/chapels of the Ironstone Villages Family of Churches and those of Rev James Skinner, Methodist Superintendent for the area. Every Wednesday -9am for 20 minutes – Service of Healing. This is a short but meaningful Celtic style service within which we offer prayers and light candles for those who need our prayers.  All welcome.

Home Groups/Lent Courses
The 'Barn Group' meets most Thursday afternoons 1.30 - 3.00 at Chris Alexander's home and follows different themes over the course of the year. If you are interested in coming along, please contact Chris on 01664 464802 for more information. This year's Lent Course, recommended by Leicester Diocese, is called 'Everyday Witness' and the Barn Group will be following this from Thursday 27 February for 5 weeks. Chris will also be offering the Everyday Witness Course at her home on Wednesday evenings (7.30-9pm) starting 11 March for those who are unable to attend during the daytime.

Watch out for the dates of our special events such as the Starlight Night Party (our alternative to Hallowe’en), Harvest Songs of Praise & Supper, Pet Service, Remembrance Service and at Christmas, the Christingle, Crib and Carol services!

Waltham Primary School
The Church has very close links with Waltham CofE Primary School, which became a Church of England Voluntary Aided School in 2009. The church is represented on the School's Governing body through Foundation Governors.
School services are held in church twice each term.
Members of the Ministry Team visit the school regularly to read Bible stories in line with the Diocesan curriculum and help with Messy Fiestas.
